James Trecartin's Basketball Felt Project

Jan. 3, 2011
I decided to make a felt project with a basketball theme for my next project. I started looking a pictured to use for templates and gathering materials.

Jan. 5, 2011
I took my materials and started measuring and cutting my shapes and designs. I also chose an embroidery hoop to frame my project. I finished cutting all of my pieces.

Jan. 7, 2011
I pinned my pieces to my fabric, sewed my pieces on and put everything in my embroidery hoop. It looks nice. I also trimmed the frame with ribbon. The paint will be dry by Monday and I can hang my project up.

Jan. 11, 2011
I blogged about my project and started something new.

Kitty Bed Project

Nov. 8, 2010 - I have finished with my denim project and showed it off to the class before taking my pillow home. Now I will start looking through project books to decide what I want to make next.

Nov. 10, 2010 - I continued looking online and through books and magazines to find my next project.

Nov. 15 - I decided I will make something for my pets as a Christmas gift. I think it will be a bed. I will look at designs to see how I want it to look.

Nov. 17, 2010 - I decided I want to make a navy blue bed for my cats. I want it to be circular with sides they can lay against. I want it to be really soft. Mrs. Newman and I looked for a pattern and couldn't find one so she said we would make our own.

Nov. 19, 2010 - Mrs. Newman used a round platter and a ruler to make the pattern pieces for my kitty bed with me. I traced the pieces and she cut them out.

Nov. 23, 2010 - I found the material I wanted to use for my bed and I started pinning my fabric pieces together to get ready to sew. I also found some batting to stuff my bed with.

Nov. 30, 2010 - Mrs. Newman and I started sewing on my kitty bed. The fabric pieces were thick and hard to sew. It was slow going and frustrating at times, but we made progress.

Dec. 2, 2010 - Mrs. Newman and I continued sewing on the bottom part of my bed. I looked nice and felt really soft. Once we got it done we started getting the pieces ready for the sides.

Dec. 8, 2010 - Today Mrs. Newman and I sewed on the sides of my kitty bed. It was not perfect, but it looked pretty good. Mrs. Newman said we would have to go over everything again to reinforce it all so it doesn't fall apart when my kitties lay on it.

Dec. 10, 2010 - Today, Mrs. Newman and I finished reinforcing my kitty bed and were all through sewing. It was a little lop-sided, but Babes and Molly won't mind. Mrs. Newman also brought me a couple of kitty toys to put with the bed before I wrap it up for them for Christmas.

Dec. 14, 2010 - I showed everyone my kitty bed and took it home for Christmas. Then Mrs. Newman helped me finish my blog.
